Abstract (EN)

Increase of world population and increase of spent time indoor places brought need for air conditioning system with themselves. In additional to this, as a result of the increase in depletion of resources, the search for efficient use of energy and tending to renewable energy resources has begun. While in this search, new solutions have been developed for one of the sectors where energy is consumed the most which is air conditioning sector. In this respect, one of the systems using the most efficient renewable energy source is the systems where the ground source heat pump (GSHP) is used. Because the soil temperature is stable in summer and winter. The heating-cooling system, which has a high efficiency in terms of energy saving, is also the radiant heating and cooling system. The reason is, the surface that will heat/cool the space is larger than other heating systems (eg. systems that has radiators). Thus, the heat transfer between space and heating/cooling water will be more. In this study, the radiant cooling/heating system that works with the ground source heat pump is compared with the VRF (VRF-Variable refrigerant flow, Variable refrigerant volume) system. After calculating the heat gain of the building which is in Istanbul, it has been calculated how much heat the radiant cooling system will absorb at 16 oC and 21 oC return temperatures and in certain pipe gaps. According to the results, after determining the space pipe gaps, the total water flow required for the system was found. After calculating the water temperatures for the ground source heat pump according to Istanbul conditions, these values were entered into the HAP (Hourly Analysis Program) program. Then, the amount of electricity that the heat pump will spend was found. After this determination, indoor units and outdoor units of the building were selected according to the VRF system. EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) values of the outdoor unit according to outdoor temperatures has been found, and a comparison was made between the VRF and the amount of energy consumed by the radiant cooling system, and it was seen that the floor cooling/heating system consumes less energy. Key Words: Ground source heat pump, VRF, floor cooling, energy comparison
