Abstract (EN)

At the present time, as technology, globalization and developments and changes in factors affecting human psychology reach unpredictable dimensions, changes also occur in the saving, investment and consumption habits of individuals. Classical approaches are not sufficient to examine and detect these changes emanated. In order for individuals to make the right financial decisions; financial knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, in short, financial literacy should be at the required level. While financial literacy ensures the effectiveness of financial markets, it provides a great opportunity to protect consumers and reduce financial market problems to a minimum. The aim of this study is to identify the financial literacy level of the individual investor as well as in determining the factors which direct the individual investor to the investment decision and whether the financial literary dimensions, demographic variables and factors that direct the individual investor to an investment decision have significantly differentiated in the TR 81 level 2 region of Bartın, Karabük and Zonguldak provinces. As a working method, source scanning and survey technique applications were preferred. At the end of this study, when the individual investor was evaluated together with the factors driving the investment decision, it was determined that financial instrument awareness, financial attitude and financial behavior on the investment decision of the individual investor were, in summary, positively influenced by their financial literacy.
