An examination of the factors affecting women's participation to labour force in TRA1 region

Since the existence of human being, women have usually constituted the half of the world population. Thus, women, in every period of history, have played as an efficient part in economic and social life as men have done. Therefore, participation of women in economic production is as old human history. However, women's participation in waged labour force markets started with industrial revolution. The event that affected the women's participation in labour force more that industry did is the World War II. With men's joining in armies for war, women entered into labour force. However, none of these reasons enabling women to participate in labour force markets was able to hinder women's description as a secondary force. While women have had a bigger part in labour force during the inadequacy of men's labour force, they again acted as homemakers during adequate men's labour force. In the current study, it is aimed to examine the factors affecting women's participation in labour force in TRA1 region. For this purpose, in the study was given general information about TRA1 region. Then, women's participation in labour force in historical process was studied, and importance of women's employment and the factors affecting women's participation in labour force were explained. In the section of application, panel data set for 2005-2015 was used and the factors affecting women's participation in labour force in TRA1 region were predicted through Logit Model.
