Abstract (EN)
This study will analyze the character of Medea, which is a female image, in the light of feminist theory, and to analyze the destruction caused by the roles attributed to women in patriarchal societies from ancient times to the present. For this purpose, it is aimed to analyze the murderer mother myth depicted in many areas of art and the victim Medea adapted in the rewriting. n this context, the effect of myths on today's female representation is examined by comparing the Greek and Roman example of Medea's with the work Medea: Voices written by Ch. Wolf in 1996. This thesis will begin by revealing the perception of women in Athens and Roman societies during the periods when Greek Euripides and Roman Seneca, two authors who used Medea as the subject of their works, in order to determine the historical background. In the second part, Medea examples of today's writers will be mentioned and compared with examples from the Ancient Period. The characteristics of the period in which the tragedies were written and the rewritten works in modern world literature will be examined from the female perspective, and the stance displayed by Medea, a feminist figure, will be examined in terms of today's people's approach to women, with the feminist theory approach.
