Abstract (EN)

The oil deficiency problem in our country has been maintaining its place on the agri-sector agenda for many years. For the solution of this problem, relevant institutions research and offer different suggestions. One of these suggestions is the safflower plant, which is a remarkable oil plant in terms of oil quality and usage areas (Carthamus tinctorius L.). The high linoleic acid content of the safflower plant, therefore is rich in vitamin E, distinguishes it from other plants and ensures that it has a different oil plant profile. Turkey has the appropriate geographic conditions for the cultivation of safflower plants; this has been a thing to satisfy the oil deficiency in Turkey. This study was carried out to measure the effectiveness of the enterprises of the producers who have grown safflower plants under the conditions of Thrace in 2014. In this research, the socio-economic structure of the enterprises that make safflower cultivation in the Thrace Region, physical production inputs due to production activities, efficiency measurements (technical efficiency, allocation efficiency and economic efficiency) at the level of enterprise in the production of safflower and the factors affecting the economic efficiency have been tried to be put forward. According to the data obtained in the study; the average yield of safflower was 56,64kg / da in Thrace, 74,11 kg / da in Tekirdağ and 39,17 kg / da in Edirne. When the calculated unit costs are considered, it is found that 4.49 TL / da in Trakya, 3.76 TL / da in Tekirdağ and 5.89 TL / da in Edirne.
