Hindistan dış politikasındaki değişim

The advent of the 1990s brought along an immense transformation in India?s foreign policy. India has transformed its Nehruvian foreign policy guidelines and created a more sophisticated and a multi-dimensional policy system. Hence, today, India has become an important power and one of the world?s leading economies. On the other hand, this transformation coincides with the advent of a new political party in power in late 1990s, namely the Baharatiya Janata Party (BJP or Indian People?s Party). Thus, some have attributed this comprehensive transformation in Indian foreign policy to the BJP?s distinctive interpretations of India?s new position in the world. Others however, have attributed the change to the growing requirements bestowed upon India in the newly emerging international political context. This paper argues that, while this transformation is a result of the combination of both of these factors; it was the newly emerging international political context that forced the Indian policy makers to undertake such a change.
