Abstract (EN)

Objective: We aimed to investigate the effect of topical nitrate before coronary angiography with radial approach on puncture time and complication rate. Material and method: All patients admitted to our university hospital with the indication of coronary angiography between February 2023 and August 2023 were included in our study. Patients who were applied topical saline on the radial artery half an hour before the procedure were named Group 1, patients who were applied topical nitrate were named Group 2, and patients who were applied topical lidakoin were named Group 3. The data of the three groups were compared. Results: Our mean puncture time was 142±122 seconds, measuring 171±131 seconds in Group 1, 88±48 seconds in Group 2, and 157±146 seconds in Group 3. There was a statistically significant difference between the three groups (p=0.002). We determined that this difference was due to the second group. The rate of multiple punctures was also found to be less in Group 2. In 7 patients in Group1, 1 patient in Group 2, and 3 patients in Group 3, radial artery puncture was terminated and femoral artery puncture was started. Conclusion: Topical nitroglycerin applied half an hour before radial artery intervention reduces the number of radial artery punctures and procedure time.
