Abstract (EN)
This study aims to determine effect of Virtual Reality (VR) Glasses and Stress Ball (SB) on patients' pain and vital signs During Transrectal Prostate Biopsy. This experimental research with pretest posttest control group was conducted November 2019 - October 2021. Study population consisted male patients who applied for prostate biopsy to the TRUS Unit of the Urology Department of a public hospital in Diyarbakır. The study population consisted of 96 people, 32 VR, 32 SB and 32 control groups were assigned by applying block randomization. Patient Information Form, Visual Analogue Scale and Patient Registration Form were used to collect data. In the analysis of the data; Number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, chi-square, dependent group t test, Multiple Response Set and ANOVA tests were used.Compared the averages of pain and vital signs between groups; there was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of pre-test mean scores (p> 0.05). After Tukey advanced analysis, found that there were VR and SB effects on the significant decrease in pain, diastolic blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate and a significant increase in oxygen saturation (p <0.05).Found that VR glasses and SB squeezing application during the TRUS-Bx procedure reduced pain and have a positively effect on vital signs.
