Abstract (EN)
Aim: TDI is a health problem that can cause functional, aesthetic, and psychological concerns. Therefore, keeping accurate records of long-term follow-up and prognosis in TDI cases is vital. For this reason, we aimed to evaluate and classify patients who applied to our clinic due to TDI. Moreover, we sought to organize their records more systematically according to Andreasen Classification and MEBDTI. Material method: In this study, we evaluated patients aged 1-14 years, who applied to Inonu University Faculty of Dentistry, Pedodontics Department due to TDI, between February 2022 and February 2023. We administered a questionnaire to parents to gather sociodemographic data and obtained the child's medical and dental history. In addition, we recorded trauma types according to the Andreasen Classification and MEBDTI. We analyzed data with SPSS 26.0 program and used descriptive statistics and the Chi-square test. Results: We included data from 111 patients (male:65.8%, female:34.2%). The mean age was 8.33±3.06 years. TDI rate was higher in boys than girls in all age groups. Falls were the most common cause of trauma in all age groups. According to both classifications, hard tissue injuries were more frequent in those with permanent tooth trauma, and periodontal injuries were more common in those with primary tooth trauma. The incidence of immature roots in permanent tooth trauma was higher (59.2%). Conclusion: Both classifications showed similar results in hard tissue and periodontal injuries. Since MEBDTI includes apex maturation, root fracture localization, and recording of multiple injuries, it allows for more detailed and systematic recording.
