Abstract (EN)
This thesis deals with demographic, economic and social structure of Tırhala, located in Thessaly, Greece between 1454 – 1570. In 1395 Tırhala was conquered by Turahan Bey who is one of the most important raiders for Ottoman Empire. During the Ottoman interregnum, the management of city was lost for a while but then Ottoman rule was established by Turahan Bey again. The development of Tırhala between 1454 – 1570 can be followed from tax registers. İt is possible to reach Muslim, Christian and Jewish population of the city. Similarly, a lot of information about the city's economy is mentioned in Ottoman records. Foundations which is major role in the development of Tırhala occured one of the three basic part of the thesis. Also in this study, foundations established by women are pointed out. Some of data obtained from mentioned Ottoman records presented as table and graphic. For these reason, this thesis containes original information about demography, economy and foundation of the city.
