Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to develop and characterize an oral rapid dissolving film (ODF) formulation containing 5 mg triamcinolone acetonide with a rapid disintegration time and appropriate mechanical properties to treat oral ulcerations by increasing the compliance and comfort of patients who are not compliant with traditional carrier systems. In the optimum formulation, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) was used as the film-forming agent, polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG400) as the plasticizer and Tween 80® as the surfactant. While HPMC is preferred due to its film-forming ability, transparency and adhesive properties, many films containing active substances have been prepared using HPMC and plasticizers in different ratios. Obtained films disintegration time, folding strength, surface pH, weight change, transparency, tensile strength, thickness, surface morphology, active ingredient quantification, active ingredient release, content uniformity, moisture loss, moisture uptake, active ingredient-excipient compatibility. was evaluated in terms of Successfully prepared formulations were disintegrated in less than 23 seconds. Most of the formulations exhibited good mechanical properties with a folding strength value greater than 172. Formulation B, which was successful in different characterization studies, was chosen as the optimum formulation and more than 79% of the active substance was released in the 1st minute.
