Abstract (EN)

Aim Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has been used for accelerating of wound healing by high rate of growth factors involved in its content over 30 years. Anti-inflammatory effect of its acquires currency, in recent years and studies, on this which have been carried on are restricted. The aim of this study was to examine the effects on anti-inflammatory findings of septorhinoplasty (SRP) ,which is a common operation in otorhinolaryngology clinics. Method İn this study 160 patients , having functional and aesthetic anticipations and having experienced underwent open septorhinoplasty were included. They were divided into two main groups which are control group and PRP group. Prior to operation, 30 cc venous phlebotomy were applied for each patients. A total of 3 cc PRP were obtained by two-seperated of blood centrifugation process. Whereas the patients in the PRP group were administered 3 cc PRP on osteotomy sites at the end of the SRP operation, the same amount of saline was injected to the control group. At the 2nd, 8th, 24th hours, on 3nd, 7th, and 10th days after the operation, value of pain, periorbital edema and acchymosis were taken down. Rhinoplasty Outcome Evaluation (ROE) satisfaction questionnaire was also implied to the patients both before and 3 months after the operation. Findings İn the PRP group, cpmpared to control group, the level of periorbital edema at 8th, 24th hours and on the 3nd day and the pain at 8th and 24th hours were significantly lower. İn periorbital ecchymosis grading, besides there was no cinsiderable difference between two groups, in all evaluation time of PRP group was lower. Any significant difference between PRP group and control group weren't examined in ROE satisfaction questionnaire. Results According to the results of our study, PRP, low-cost and prepared in short-term has not only decreased postoperative periorbital ecchymosis level in SRP operation, and olso its effects on periorbital edema and pain levels was significantly low. This may maket he use of PRP in SRP operations a current issue. The limited number of studies on this subject indicates that more comprehensive studies will need to be done in the future.
