The examination of the 6-10 age group domestic cartoons on TRT Cocuk channel in terms of vocabulary: The example of Trafik Tayfa and Dijital Tayfa

Supporting the children's language skills and enriching their vocabulary occur with the help of part of speech elements in the culture in they live in. And some concepts such as vocabulary, part of speech and word sorts form the base of language-learning. Childhood period is the cradle of learning a language. Language is the must for the communication and also the way to get in touch with others. The most important factors that effect the children's language process are the tales they have listened, the rhymes they have memorised, the communication they have got with their peers and the cartoons they have watched. Children need books people around and audio-visual materials in order to improve their native language. At the certain point, the cartoon is one of the sources which they can applied. Owing to the advancements in information and communication techniques, children can easily access cartoons via internet without regarding time and space. It can be stated that cartoons take a very important part in children's life from this point of view. Children both take pleasure from the process and can gain many skills indirectly-at first the vocabulary through cartoons. Cartoons contribute to children in learning Turkish and parts of speech effectively. Thus it is aimed to examine the 'Trafik Tayfa' (Staff) and 'Dijital Tayfa' – which are televised on TRT Kid Channel for 6-10 age groups' cartoons from the scope of 'Part of speech' by the present surveyor. The cartoons mentioned above have been determined by means of aimed-sampling. Besides which sections of the cartoons to be involved have been determined by random-sampling method. In the survey document analysing has been applied as well as content analysing method for analysing data. Before analysing the data each series sections has been written down literally by dictation. The part of speech, idioms, proverbs, foreign origin words, reduplications, cliche words, terms, cliched statements and slang words have been analysed in the examined about mentioned series sections. Besides this it has been regarded words frequency, word types-(nouns, adjectives, verbs, proneness, adverbs, postpositions, conjunctions, exclamations) in data analysing the part of speech consolation form which has been designed by the present surveyor has been performed benefiting from the studies of Aksan (2006) and Baş (2011). And again in data analysing, 'Simple Concordance Program 5.0' and 'Maxqda 2022' analysing programs have been used. It has been counted up at the end of survey about the above mentioned cartoon series that there are 4526 total words and 1059 different words. According to part of speech in the 2 cartoon series examined, the first place belongs to 847 foreign origin words and it has been succeeded by 27 reduplications whereas there is no proverbs cliched statements either. Apart from this there have been 50 idioms for the terms 73 cliched statements and only one slang word. In verb type analysing, 718 verb-sort have been fixed among 1525 words. The least used word kind is conjunction-38 times. In word frequency analysing, the rank of five is like this: 1 for 86 times, -mı or -mi for 83 times, -ol for 82 times, ne (what) for 76 times and lastly, ben (I) for 69 times. Considering the sentence structure the ruled sentence has been used 451 times and the reduced sentence has been used 16 times among 777 sentences in the surveyed about mentioned cartoons. Checking the sentences lengths, there has been used of three-word sentence most and twelve-word sentence least.Under the light of finding, we can say that the important of words and parts of speech should be taken into consideration while preparing cartoons. And also used properly of the parts of speech factors like proverbs that reflect our culture should be taken into consideration, those in order not to be under the influence of foreign words, and in order to be able to and speak Turkish effectively, it should be preferred avoiding foreign-origined words.
