Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, a permanent magnet tubular DC linear motor has been developed. In automation systems, it is observed that the need for linear motion as well as circular motion is increasing day by day. This requirement is commonly fulfilled by pneumatic systems or circular electric motors that generate the motion with the help of additional auxiliary equipment such as gears, straps, and belt pulleys. This situation causes problems such as additional costs and maintenance. Linear motors are machines that produce linear motion directly without the additional equipment. The disadvantages of linear motors that need to be improved are low force/current ratio, length limitation and the need for complex drive circuits when fabricated longer, although they eliminate the need for the auxiliary elements. The DC linear motor developed and prototyped in this study has a high force/current ratio due to its geometrical structure. Additionally, since it is designed as double-sided, it can be produced in the desired length by adding new modules. The developed brush collector system does not require any additional drive circuit when it is fabricated longer. Therefore, the developed motor provides a significant solution to the mentioned problems of linear motors. Static force/current ratio tests have been carried out at different current values of the manufacturing motor and depending on the location. The dynamically modelled motor is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The position and current information obtained with the help of the data acquisition card has been transferred to the computer environment and real-time control has been implemented.
