The effect of deprivation on organizational commitment: A study conducted on the students of a state university

In this study, the importance of deprivation and organizational commitment concepts is aimed to be focused by cognitive and hypothetical analysis. The study is conducted with the aim of presenting the effects of students?, who study at state universities, deprivation on organizational commitment. In this study, the levels of deprivation and organizational commitment are ascertained with lower dimensions, whether there is a relationship between two dependent variables which form lower dimensions or whether dependent variables differ or not according to demographic variables are proved.This study contains three parts. ın the first part, the concept of deprivation and models of deprivation is mentioned. In the second part, organizational commitment and approaches to organizational commitment are explained. The results which are gained by data analysis are discussed in the third part.The students from State University constitute the population of this study. The sample of the study is constituted by the students studying at the School of Economics and Administrative Sciences and Faculty of Engineering. With the aim of designating the effect of the students? department on the level of deprivation, Social Sciences and Physical Sciences are made participated in the sample. Survey is used as date gathering technique.As the result of this study, the relationships between the level of emotional deprivation of the perception of deprivation in particular and the normative dependence level of the organizational dependence and between the insensibility level of the perception of deprivation and the normative dependence level of the organizational dependence are seen. Moreover, the gender is not a determinant on the feeling of organizational dependence and deprivation. Besides, the results are supported by literature review. Anyway, it is apparent that there is a relation between the departments of the students and attendance dependence. There aren?t any relations with other lower dimensions.
