The evaluation of burnout syndrome effect on organizational commitment, motivation and intention to quit: A research in Antalya – Kundu hotels region

This research is conducted on the purpose of identifying the effects of employees' burnout syndrome in tourism sector on organizational commitment, motivation and intention to quit. As well as this purpose, the relations between demographic variables and working issues are also studied particularly. The first part of the study contains the descriptions of organizational commitment, motivation and intention to quit and a literature review about the relations between these terms. In the second part, research method and hypotheses prepared within the scope of literature are tested. During the testing of hypotheses, explanatory factor analysis, independent sample t test, one-way analysis of variance, correlation and regression analysis are used. The study included five star hotels in business in Antalya – Kundu Hotels Region, 360 employee of these hotels and data gathered through research questionnaire are analysed. The results of the analyses indicate that burnout syndrome affects organizational commitment negatively and significantly and does not affect motivation and it also affects the intention to quit positively and significantly. Addition, it is determined that employees' burnout syndrome (X ̅= 4,41) and motivation (X ̅= 4,21) are high level, organizational commitment (X ̅= 2,95) is medium- level and finally the intention to quit (X ̅= 4,32) is considerably high level.
