Abstract (EN)
Consumer boycott has become an important tool for individuals to express their reactions so as to avoid particular brand or product which causes a social problem. In our country, due to various reasons reactions has been developed in order not to buy products and brands of some countries and these products have been boycotted. The boycotted countries and the reasons that lead to the call for boycotts are listed as follows: In 1999, Abdullah Öcalan was recognized as a refugee in Italy, France has formally recognized the Armenian massacres as genocide in 2006, The publication of satirical cartoons of the Islamic prophet of Muhammad in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten and Israel attacks to Gaza, also Israeli navy attacks to Mavi Marmara. In this regard some consumers have positively responded to the call for the boycotts, whereas some have been reluctant to participate in the boycotts due to variety of reasons. In this study, the motivation of consumers for participation in the boycotts will be investigated, and the question of why some consumers are unwilling to participate in such boycotts will be answered. In this context, the survey was conducted to the consumers who have been working in the public and private sector residing in Muş. Data were analyzed by using SPSS 20.0 statistical software. Descriptive statistics and exploratory factor analysis were conducted for analysis of the data.
