A research on consumers' using motivations of sharing economy in Turkey

Abstract (EN)

Since sharing economy is a developing concept and in spite of many different definitions of it, it can be defined as an organized system, common network and platforms where users perform commercial and non-commercial sharing activities such as renting, lending and exchanging. Factors affecting the formation of the sharing economy can be listed as; the 2008 economic recession and the subsequent global crisis, the increasing importance given to environmental problems and sustainability related to excessive consumption starting with environmental problems such as global warming, increase in the sharing of internet platforms with technological developments and the impact of generation Y on consumption preferences. The sharing economy also has economic, environmental and social impacts. When the sharing economy is analyzed in terms of consumer behavior, variables such as attitude and behavioral intention, reference groups, culture and demographic groups are primary. When examining the use of the sharing economy motivation in Turkey, especially in the use of existing practices in this area, social, recreational and economic reasons have come to the fore. Socio-demographic characteristics made a significant difference in motivation to use sharing economy.
