Islamic fashion magazines in the context of consumption culture: A comparative study example

Abstract (EN)

Various works are being done on Islamic fashion magazines and these works are continuing today. The fact that the magazines are a mass communication medium causes it to be an important work area in terms of communication discipline. Islamic fashion magazines are not the only means of mass communication. Islamic fashion magazines, which are studied by various disciplines, are also important as an area where economic, political and social changes that have been experienced in Turkey over time can be studied clearly. The economic, political and social changes that followed the 1980s also caused significant changes in lifestyles and consumption practices. Islamic fashion magazines are an important field in which these changes can be studied. In this context, it is essential to esamime Islamic fashion magazines as a medium of mass media in the context of consumer culture, which is considered as the dominant culture of today's modern world. It is also aimed to reveal the similarities and differences between Islamic fashion magazines and other fashion magazines. In this context, the numbers of Aysha and Elle Magazines selected as samples in 2016 were analyzed by means of content analysis in terms of the consumption of consumption data and the obtained data were evaluated. As a result of the study, Islamic fashion magazines contain consumer messages. "The assumptions of" Islamic fashion magazines in the context of consumption culture are not much different from other fashion magazines "have been tested. As a result of the study, it appears that Aysha Magazine carries large consumption messages and there is not much difference with other fashion magazines in terms of consumer culture.
