Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research is to determine the impact of consumption culture on vocational high school students for girls. For this aim, the factors affecting the consumption culture of students in vocational high school for girls were determined as the amount of pocket money, promotions and discount, the level of family income and shopping malls. 367 female students studying in AlaattinNilüferKadayıfçıoğlu Technical and Vocational High School for girls, in the academic year 2011-2012, created the sample of the research. The questionnaire consists of 57 questions that contains demographics, family income and the attitude of the scale of consumption culture about behaviours. In the analysis of data, t-test, Anova test and Tukeypost-hoc test statistics were used and the margin of error was token as P < 0,05. The information obtained from the analysis of data was presented in tables and the results were acquired. As a results of the research, 14,7 % of the students participating in the research are to be determined having less than 750 TL as family income, 55,6 % of them 751-1250 TL, 16,3 % of the participants having 1251-1750 and the ratio fort he ones having 1751 and more than that amount is 13,4 % of the students. Moreover, in this study it is determined that 63,2 % of the students take 100TL or less as pocket money paramount. The preference of purchasing branded goods of the students at the 12th grade is higher than the ones at the 10th grade. As the result of the research, low level of family income and low amount of pocket money that students take monthly make discounts and promotions significant in their preferences comprising their consumption culture. To used the limited resources productively and create conscious consumption culture, especially Ministry of Education and non-governmental organizations have a great role.
