Abstract (EN)
Organic geochemical characteristics and organic petrographic features of Tavşanlı (Kütahya-Tunçbilek) coals located in the south of the FC pano basin were investigated within this study. The Miocene units in the basin consist of conglomerate, sandstone, mudstone, clay, claystone, coal and marl. Total organic carbon (TOC) values are between 8,25-55,01 %, hydogen index (HI) values vary between 185-389 mg HC/g TOC and Tmax values vary between 426-437 °C of subbituminous coal. Kerogen in the deposits is type II-III, as indicated by organic petrographic observations and Rock-Eval pyrolysis data. Tmax values indicate an immature-early mature stage for hydrocarbon production. Although coals represented potential source rock characteristics, they were immature for gas/oil production. Facies C and BC was determined according to the organic facies evaluation. Huminite reflectances measured on the coal samples between 0,48 - 0,60 % Ro and it shows that immaturity-early mature stage. These values indicate that coal rank can be classified as subbituminous coal. Huminite is the most abundant maceral group (30-80 %). Small amounts of liptinite (1-8 %) and inertinite (2-7 %) are observed within the coals. According to the maceral analysis, the coals are formed in limnic to limnotelmatic zone. Carbon (C) values are between 23,62-67,20 %, hydrogen (H) values 1,72-5,49 % vary between, oxygen (O) values % 6,41- 10,2 vary between, nitrogen (N) values vary between 1,27-2,23 % were determined in the coal samples with ultimate analysis. Sulphur (S) values are between % 0,17- 2,76 were determined according of coal, as results of show that the environments indicate terrestrial environment.
