Tunus Devrimi: Kadın aktivizmi ve ilerici ideallerin gerçekleştirilmesi

The Jasmine Revolution of 2010 was launched by widespread government corruption and socio-economic issues, and it was also a call for reform in the political sector. Mohamed Bouazizi's tragic death on December 17, 2010 is the catalyst behind deep frustrations over unemployment, gender inequality, censorship, human rights violations, and cover-ups. Public unrest followed from free expression stifled by the control of the Ben Ali regime over social media. It gave power to the revolution, and one of its central cries was 'bread, liberty, national dignity.' In this thesis, there will be a study of the Jasmine Revolution's effect on democratization and women's political participation. The research applies feminist institutionalism to study how the revolution influenced gender equality, women's autonomy, and political involvement in Tunisia. It examines disruptive barriers to true gender equality from the historical power structures and social norms that prevented real progress and the revolution's ability to break down such barriers. It is about how the revolution refurbished the debate over gender roles and women's empowerment, changing constitutions and women's involvement in politics. It analyzes how gender politics, political institutions, and policy reforms in Tunisia have reshaped women's role in Tunisian society. This research explores the bond between entrenched gender norms and political institutions and their reprecussions on policy-making and female's political participation. The study adds new theoretical insights to an appreciation of the gendered contours of the Arab Spring, especially in Tunisia. It locates both gender and democracy as central factors in political change. By providing insights into the problems and progress of gender equality in post-revolution societies, these formulations have significant repercussions for the Arab world.
