Abstract (EN)
Derivatives that are based on the value of another asset in world economic history are derived market instruments to manage the risk exposures in the economy effectively, following the collapse of the Bretton Woods system, which is based on the fixed exchange rate system, followed by the floating exchange rate system. In this context, the rapidly expanding use of derivatives markets has allowed them to manage their risks in the financial system. Derivatives markets have experienced a rapid growth process with structured products during the 90's and the realized trading volumes have reached extraordinary dimensions. Constructed products based on a financial asset have made it difficult to measure the risks that they carry alone because they carry the risks of the underlying asset in their own right. In spite of various opinions about the fact that derivative products are the cause of the crisis in the economic agenda with the 2008 crisis, there are opinions that in fact there are some problems that are caused by the fact that these products are not the cause of crisis but the derivative products are not used correctly. In this study, the results of investments on risks that are not correctly perceived or accurately measured are examined at the point of the 2008 global financial crisis, credit derivative products derived to manage credit risk, and their relation to the crisis are discussed.
