The effect of time management and self-efficacy on career expectancy among tourist guide candidates

The aim of this study is to determine the time management, self-efficacy, and career expectations of prospective tourist guides and to reveal the impact of time management and self-efficacy on career expectations. Since no studies have been found in the literature examining the relationship between these three variables, this study is believed to make significant contributions to the literature. In the study, a review of national and international literature was conducted on the research variables of time management, self-efficacy, and career expectations, and a theoretical framework was developed. In the application phase, a survey was used as the data collection method. The research population consisted of students studying at the department of tourism guidance in Türkiye. However, due to time and cost constraints, it was not possible to reach the entire population, so sampling was employed. Data were collected from 330 tourist guide candidates studying in the tourism guiding departments at AKU, BAIBÜ, and ISUBÜ. Data on the demographic and individual characteristics of the participating tourist guide candidates were determined using percentage and frequency techniques. Furthermore, the analyses of the statements included in the scale regarding the time management, self-efficacy, and career expectations of tour guide candidates were determined by calculating percentages, frequencies, arithmetic means, and standard deviations. Cronbach's alpha was calculated as part of the reliability analysis. Factor analysis was conducted as part of the current analysis. Additionally, t-tests, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and characteristic and regression analyses were used. The findings of the study are presented in the conclusion, discussion, conclusion, and recommendations. The findings of the study are summarized in the discussion, conclusion, and recommendations sections, and recommendations are made for relevant individuals, institutions, and organizations.
