The effect of food and beverage expenditures on economic growth in tourism expenditures: The case of Turkey

Tourism Sector supports the economic development of many country directly and indirectly. Gastronomy tourism, which appears for receive food and beverage need of people, recently has became more popular and has became important part of tourism business because of the fact that curiosity of the people about local culinary delights. With this work it was aimed to put forth of the share of the gastoronomy tourism expenditures in the tourism expenditures. In this work, the correlation of the between food and beverage expenditures and economic growth was analysed by Augmented Dickey-Fuller, Phillips-Peron and Johansen Cointegration Test on between 2002- 2020. After reaching the conclusion that the series move in long-term, the direction and coefficient of the cointegration correlation was analysed with FMOLS and CCR way. The findings which obtained according to examined the relation of between food and beverage expenditures and economic growth; it has been detected variables are not stable in the level value and after the first difference has been taken of the series are stable. According to analyse of the cointegration, two integrated vector has been located and rejecting the null hypothesis it has been long term relation between the cointegrates and the coefficient of the variable of the food and beverage expenditures was found to be significant. Otherwise, the increase in food and beverage expenditures, which is included in tourism expenditures, positively affects the increase in economic growth.
