Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, it is necessary to provide sustainability in the rapidly developing tourism sector, to increase the diversity of energy source by spreading environment friendly technologies and to manipulate energy management effectively. In the traditional structure used in the hotel management, the energy management is manipulated by experts who have been trained in business or tourism areas, and in the technical issues these managers are not able to dominate the existing and innovative energy technologies and the energy management and productivity in the hotels are overlooked. In the scope of this thesis, a new discipline that can be called as Tourism Engineering is proposed for Turkey where the graduates will have knowledge in tourism areas and also have been educated about conventional and innovative technologies that can be used in tourism sector take place effectively in hotel management. Based on the studies on the energy efficiency of some of the hotels in several countries, applications were examined in terms of tourism engineering and energy management and the results of these studies were evaluated within the concept we proposed in this master thesis. Verification of the results made by modeling a five star hotel in the province of Sakarya. The results obtained as a result of the thesis study show that tourism engineers in the tourism sector can direct energy management at the management level and increase energy efficiency as well as provide a fast and efficient transition to domestic-renewable-environmental technologies.
