The relationship between digital competence, academic self-efficacy and career intentions of tourism students

This thesis study examines the relationship between Digital Competencies, Academic Self-Efficacy and Career Intentions of Tourism Students. The aim of the research is to reveal the interactions between digital competence, academic self-efficacy and career intention. Digitalization accelerates business processes today and plays an important role in decision-making stages. The tourism sector is also significantly affected by this digital transformation, and people make their holiday plans and reservations through digital platforms. In this context, the digital competencies of students who receive education in the field of tourism and want to work in the sector are of critical importance for their success in their professional lives and careers. The thesis examines the concept of digital competence within a framework that includes individuals' ability to use digital tools effectively and safely and to use various programs, and also associates academic self-efficacy with individuals' self-beliefs and motivations. The general screening model was used while conducting the research, and the relational screening model used in quantitative research and included in this model was used. The research provides findings supporting the positive relationship between academic self-efficacy, digital competence and career intention. The hypotheses proposed in the thesis are supported by the results such as digital competence positively affecting career intention and academic self-efficacy playing a mediating role in the relationship between digital competence and career intention.
