Abstract (EN)
In touristical buildings, annual average consumption rates are 60 % and 40 % as the thermal and electrical energy, respectively. Energy requirement for the preparation of domestic hot water is approximately 20 % of the total thermal (heating) energy. As it can be seen clearly, the amount of consumed energy concerning to meet the domestic hot water demand is at highly significant levels by taking into account the touristical buildings in our country. In this thesis, it was aimed that to find out the most suitable plan types and to determine the proper application methods which make possible to benefit optimally from the solar energy to meet the domestic hot water demand by researching the widely used plan types and roof alternatives in touristical buildings. The case study calculations were achieved for the city of Antalya because it has the highest tourism potential having the guest capacity of 450.000 beds in more than 1.000 touristical buildings in the country besides its solar irradiation potential. The study consists of six chapters.Chapter 1 : The purpose and the necessity of the study was explained.Chapter 2 : General information was presented about solar energy and its main application areas, solar energy potential of Turkey and its position among other countries, the solar thermal energy market and execution policies in Turkey as well as around the world.Chapter 3 : Touristical buildings, evaluation on contructional forming of touristical housing in the city of Antalya, solar thermal collectors, solar energy assisted water heating systems and their operational working principles were outlined in detail.Chapter 4 : It was stated an approach for optimally usage of solar energy assisted water heating systems. Definition and purpose of the approach was explained besides application steps relating to the approach.Chapter 5 : As an application example for the concerned approach, case study calculations were achieved for the city of Antalya and results were evaluated. In this connection, domestic hot water demand was determined in hotels and tap water temperature values for the city network of Antalya were obtained. The energy requirement for heating up the concerned water was calculated according to the solar irradiation coming on to solar collectors by taking into account the monthly solar irradiation data for horizontal surface. It was determined the number of solar collectors which can be installed on roofs for all plan types according to building shape, roof type, orientation, inclination angle of solar collector, mounting position of solar collector and shadow distance parameters. It was calculated solar energy production values and demand coverage ratios. Then, it was studied on economic analysis according to benefit-cost ratios by taking into account the solar plant investment costs and payback periods. Additionally, all results obtained from calculations were submitted.Chapter 6 : Obtained results and recommendations were stated as the conclusion.
