New product development strategies in tourism: Case of Kastamonu

The tourism sector is a dynamic sector with a strong competition. So much so that in this sector not only tourism enterprises, but also competing with each other in countries. Those who aim to provide superiority in this competition are trying to offer new and alternative tourism products to their customers, ie tourists. Countries that want to attract more tourists by offering a variety of products in tourism also perform different tourism activities in addition to classical sea-sun-sand tourism. Kastamonu province is a province where tourism activities can be carried out in many different types from potential tourism to nature tourism. The main purpose of this thesis study is to examine the tourism potential of Kastamonu province, to emphasize what must be done to develop the existing tourism products in Kastamonu and to consider the strategies that should be formed for the development of tourism in Kastamonu from the point of view of tourism. For the purpose of the study, 22 tourismers in Kastamonu constitute the universe of research. Interview method was used as method in the research. The data of the participants were analyzed using descriptive analysis method. The information obtained from the participants was evaluated and some suggestions were made. As a result of the analysis, it is possible to say that the development of existing tourism products would be more accurate than the development of new tourism products in Kastamonu province and that local people and local government and the state should support the development of Kastamonu tourism.
