Abstract (EN)
Women Figures in Sample texts selected from Turkish and German fairy tales were examined in terms of social and moral behaviors. Women?s social behavior was discussed regarding active, passive and complicated attitudes. Moral features were also considered as googd and evil. This paper sought an answer to the question to what extent fairy tales reflect social attitudes towards women in Turkish and German societies.Turkish fairy tales ?Gülen Ayva Ağlayan Nar?, ?Konuşan Kaval? and ?Kara Kedi?, which show women?s position in Turkish society from different points, and German fariy tales ?Uyuyan Güzel? (Sleeping Beauty), ?Pamuk Prenses? (Snow White), and ?Hänsel ve Gretel? (Hänsel and Gretel), which are the most well-known tales in German and reflect the women figure from various aspects were chosen for this paper.In conclusion, the analysis of these tales showed that perception of women in both socities was reflected in the tales and there some similarities and differences among the women figures in the tales.
