Abstract (EN)

The banking sector is one of the most important actors in the national economies. Crises in the banking sector can have a negative impact on the economy of the country and may even damage the global economy. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor and audit the performance of the banking sector. In this study, it is aimed to compare the performance of four largest banks in terms of asset size in the banking sector of both Turkey and Azerbaijan with CAMELS technique. According to the findings of the research, it was observed that Yapı Kredi Bank performed the worst among the Turkish banks, the performance of Garanti BBVA was increasing even though the performance fluctuated, Akbank's performance decreased in the last two years and QNB Finansbank's performance was steadily on the rise. Among the Azeri banks, Kapital Bank experienced serious performance problems in 2015 and 2016, and fluctuations were observed in Pasha Bank's performance in the last 6 years and the performance of Bank of Baku entered a downward trend. The performance of Bank Respublika is negative. As a result, Turkish banks perform better than Azerbaijani banks.
