Hadith in the Turkish Memluks Period (VII-VIII. centuries)

Turkish (Bahri) Mamluks was a Turkish state which was founded in 648/1250 and that took the leadership of Islamic World by winning a certain victory over the Mongols in The Battle of 'Ayn Jālūt (1260). This research aims to reveal hadith education in institutions like madrasa, dar al-hadith, khanqāh and mosque in that period. Hadith activities of that period took part in unofficial institution by thanked to personal efforts handing academic life in the first century of Mamluks. In this century, mobility for academic activities was common. The ways of hadith tahammul in that period, compile books about hadith and the hadith journeys (rıhle) is handled in this study. Particularly, some hafiz muhaddiths who worked in dar al-hadith and madrasah, compile books and guide to society is briefly introduced. The claims that these works of this period were far from original are evaluated in this work. The major musannafs of that period is classified and detected by types. Furthermore we have examined in detail scientific and social relations of muhaddiths with each other in the society of Turkish (Bahri) Mamluks period, their debates, competition among each other, the effect of different sectarians on their lifes and works, the relations with politicians, struggle for mansıp and their lifestyles are examined in detail.
