Branch performance measurement on turkish banking sector and analyzed comparatively

Banking sector is an important part of financial system of countries. Thus, performance measurement on banking sector has become critical as a result of the economic structure which has developed recently. Thanks to performance measurement, banks can analyse their own current situation and try to think of ways to develop their performance to have competitive advantage. Because of that reason, banks must measure performance of their branches periodically. Since, bank branches have a determining role on the profitability of banks. Balance sheet size and various ratios are used to measure performance. Through measure of performance of branches, contribution of branches to profit of banks and achievements of employees of branches can be determinated. As a result of measurement of performance quantitative of funds and profit which are obtain by branches can be analyzed. In this dissertation, performance measurement methods of branches which is the determinant of performance and profitability of banks has researched. In accordance with this purpose, method of measure of performance of six private and public Turkish banks branches are analyzed comparatively.
