Harmonization process of the Turkish banking sector with the European Union banking sector : Training activities in this process and an area research

Establishment of an integrated and a competition based market where bankscan freely function in the European Union is deemed as the basic objective in thebanking sector. Single market program is based on three principles such as basisharmonization, mutual recognition and central country supervision and control; andthe Single Banking License ensures that the banks can freely function in the Unioncountries, which they prefer.Although a common banking market among the European Union membercountries has been established to a large extent through the Council Directives andRecommendations, there are still differences which result from the traditionalbanking structure of each of the Member Countries.When Turkish banking sector and European Union countries are compared, itbecomes clear that there are insignificant legislative differences and that Turkishbanking sector is behind the old members while she is better than the new memberswith respect to competitiveness.It's been found out by the survey made on the Bank employees that they donot have sufficient information on the banking sector of the European Union. It's alsobeen understood that the participants think that the training provided within the scopeof the harmonization process of the Turkish banking sector with the European Unionis insufficient. However it's been found out that 98% of the participants are willing tobe trained on the harmonization process of the Turkish banking sector with theEuropean Union.
