Abstract (EN)
Turkish banking system is one of the most important keystones of the economy. The purpose of this study is to analyze the competition structure and the market conditions of Turkish banking system. After the general analysis of the banking system, developments in the sector and restructing of the Turkish banking indutry is discussed. The ratio technique is chosen among the evaluation methods, the structural transformation of the banking industry is analyzed and Turkish banking industry is evaluated in general.Turkish banking industry has shifted from a model of public financing to a model of resorce transfer to private companies and households. The banking sector which had many improvements in the investigation period may not diverse from its present position drastically in the near future. With relatively small domestic banks which have poor capital structure and capital adequacy ratio which is lower than industry average, foreign banks whose headquarters are abroad will be monitored closely in the sector.
