Abstract (EN)

This thesis analyses the foreign political vision and identity suggestion of the Anlayış magazine, published in Turkey between 2003 and 2010, for Turkish foreign policy in the 21st century. The construction of a 21st century foreign policy vision in the magazine is being examined by using a discourse analysis from a constructivist approach. In order to classify the foreign political vision of the magazine, a general outline of the formation of an identity in Turkish foreign policy is being given. The thesis shows that, according to Anlayış magazine, Turkey's 21st century foreign political vision has to be constructed upon Ottoman historical heritage. A synthesis of Ottomanism and Islamism is the key to construct this vision, which suggests an alternative to Western identity in Turkish foreign policy.
