Poetic History in Turkish Literature and Murâdî's Fetih-nâme

Covering a narrower field than historiography and having just begun to enter the literature, "Poetic History" writing is the focus of our work. By taking advantage of the possibilities of Nazm; dates (gazavât-nâme) about the battles of a sultan, a vizier or a famous pasha/commander, dates about the conquest of a castle or a city (fetih-name), dates about the victory won in a battle (zafer-name), The dates that deal with the reign of a ruler from beginning to end (Selim-nâme or Süleymân-nâme), the general dates that deal with the events starting from the establishment of the Ottoman Empire to a certain period, and the dates of the Ottoman sultans' accession to the throne, their reign, the works they did during their reign, the achievements they earned. They can be classified as verse dates (Fihrist-i Şahân) describing their victories, the countries they took, the dates of their death or abdication, which sultan came to the throne after them, and similar qualities in a few couplets. Poetic History is written in masnavi verse, which is generally used to describe long subjects. However, there have also been verse dates written in verse form in the ode, albeit rarely. In this study, which examines the verse dates written in Turkish literature, there are 3 chapters excluding the introduction and conclusion. In the first chapter, information about verse historiography is given and the determined verse dates are classified. In the second part; 118 poetic dates that have survived from 127 works identified have been introduced in chronological order, grouped as "Poetic", "Mixed Manzum-Prose" and "Written in Persian", and discussed in terms of content, language and style. In the third chapter, the verse history called Fetih-nâme is transcribed and analyzed. As a result, in Turkish literature, it is accepted that Ahmedi's work called İskender-name, which was written in the early 15th century, started with the chapter entitled Dâsitân-ı Tevârih-i Mülûk-ı Âl-i Osman, in which he narrated the Ottoman History, and Mehmed Cemil's work in the early 20th century. 118 works that were put forward within the framework of the tradition of historiography in verse, which ended with the work titled Muhtasar and Manzum Târîh-i Osmânî, which he wrote, were introduced and the transcripted text of Murâdî's Fetih-nâme was added.
