Abstract (EN)

This study aims to illustrate the reasons, the amount and the effects on the works of the transition to postmodernism in Turkish novel in the theoretic plane. The concepts of pluralism, disconfirmation and probability, which have gained new functions with the postmodernist philosophy, are focused in accordance with the study's purpose. Around these concepts, literature theory and taking into account the postmodernist philosophy's spirit of denying the boundaries postmodern philosophy have been applied to more than one examination method. Therefore, writer-centered, text-centered and reader-centered readings and evaluations were made. In the study consisting of introduction and two parts, primarily the novel type and the historical development of postmodernism in Western and Turkish literature have been taken up in the theoretical plane with different aspects. In the second part, which is based on theoretical information, the novels Tehlikeli Oyunlar, Beyaz Kale, Fındık Sekiz ve Bin Hüzünlü Haz were analysed. During the research, the unique aspects of the postmodern accounts were determined by considering the classical and modern novel elements. At the focus of the method and the sample, the standard headings patterns are not used, thus the emphasis has been placed on the characteristic changes that the postmodernism has made on the novel elements. It had been observed that the studied works and the material elements were often designed to be superimposed, interwoven and multi-layered with each other. A clear interpretation of the uniqueness of the genre had been made with postmodernist uses determined especially in plot, character cast, language features and tone elements. This work titled as "Reflection of Postmodernist Transformation on Novel Elements in the Turkish Literature" explained that how postmodernism had experienced an evolution from the past to the present day in the Turkish literature by using in-depth analysis and exemplification, while revealing the innovations of the postmodern literary theory. The positive and negative effects of the postmodern philosophy on Turkish society, culture and the reader were determined through literature. Hereby, it is thought that this study will contribute to the emergence and application of new approaches to postmodernism not only through literature but also through social and cultural life.
