Abstract (EN)

The word ''popular'' used as populist in dictionary means like common, on the agenda, well-known. Popular novel is defined as the best seller and the novel on the agenda. These novels written by their author for more financial reason than aesthetic are quite simple and intelligible in terms of language, their topics are usually similar, they are the novel written in a short time and forgotten in a short time as well. Especially, when it is considered the mass readers are adolescents, the effects of the novel in question on the high school students are taken consideration with this work. The Anatolian Teacher Training High Schools students in Yozgat are chosen. In the selection of this high school, it is effective to give importance to the pedagogical education. The whole Anatolian Teacher Training High School in Yozgat is reached one by one and after negotiating with the Literature Teachers, the survey-data collecting method is applied on the students. It is seen that popular novels are read substantially in high schools. The interests of the students in the Anatolian Teacher Training High School, which authors and popular novels they have read and their reason to read the popular novels are searched. Also, the impacts of these novels on the students are searched and presented. It is made a conclusion that the popular novels have deep impacts on the adolescents.
