The reflection of economic growth on Turkish Airlines' strengthen in international platform

In twentieth century people have been witnessed several developments all around the world. Everything has changed and enhanced with technology, transportation is one of the field which is affected by the technological improvements. Today the gliders, which were the state-of-art technology in the early 1900's,are supplanted by jet aircrafts. It is known that the economy is affected by the expeditiously developed airline transportation in both positive and negative ways. In the same way, airline companies have been became a player of the economy in national and global fields. In this paper, Turkish Airline's improvements ininternational field that provide advantages for the company and Turkey's economy are examined. Based on this, the main topic of this study is analysing the contribution of ticket income to the tourism and determining the share of this contribution in the Turkey's economy. Briefly, evaluation of Turkish Airlines' physical and economic developments,; examining the effects of these developments on local and foreign tourism in Turkey, the position of Turkish Airlines in global market and effects of this position on Turkey's economy are analysed within the context of this study. Furthermore, time series are used to econometricallyprove the theoretically explained relationship between Turkish Airline's tourism incomes and passenger incomes. A unidirectional relationship from passenger incomes to tourism incomes is found by using Granger causality test. In addition to this, it is confirmed that 10% rise in passenger incomes of Turkish Airlines causes 14.9% rise in tourism incomes by applying regression analysis. Correlation analysis is applied to calculate the direction and the volume of relationship between variables and it showed that there are positively (0.88) and strongrelationship between variables. Consequently, changes in passenger incomes affect positively and strongly to the tourism incomes.
