Accommodation bills in the Turkish law system

Accommodation bills correspond to a subheading of bonus bills. Not every gratuitous bill is an accommodation bill, however all accommodation bills possess the attribute of absence of consideration. Accommodation bills are primarily issued for two purposes, depending on the presence or absence of their negotiability. Negotiable accommodation bills serve as a kind of credit provision to the drawer. On the other hand, in non-negotiable accommodation bills, the sole purpose of the parties is to enhance the financial status of the beneficiary, making it appear much better than it is. Since there is no legal regulation regarding both gratuitous bill in general and accommodation bills specifically in our legislation, the decisions of supreme court are highly determinative on the subject matter.
