Özet (EN)

This thesis aims to analyze the historical process of the movements of consumers defined as natural and legal persons acting for commercial or non-professional purposes, the consumer policy of the European Union, which is established in line with the universal consumer rights accepted by the United Nations, and the consumer policy in Turkey that indicates some changes during the accession process to the European Union via harmonization laws to acquis communautaire. By emphasizing the fact that Turkish Basic Law on Consumer Law numbered 4077 and 6502, and consumer related regulations and communiqués especially in the field of food, banking services, health, tobacco and alcohol have been undergone changes in the accession process to EU, this thesis examines the consumer movements, last developments as well as changes in Turkey within the scope of European Union Consumer Law and legal mechanisms that consumers can apply in case of violations of their rights.
