Abstract (EN)

The Battle of Sakarya is one of the most important phases of the Turkish National Struggle. This war resulted in a victory in which not only the Greek advance, which expanded into Anatolia after the occupation of Izmir, but also the withdrawal period of more than two centuries that the Turkish nation experienced after the Second Siege of Vienna, came to an end. One year after the Battle of Sakarya was won, the Great Offensive took place and Anatolia was completely cleared of the invading Greek army. The foundations of the Republic of Turkey were laid with the Lausanne Peace Treaty signed on July 24, 1923. This study, which aims to reveal the military, political, economic and social dimensions of the Battle of Sakarya, one of the most important stages of the National Struggle, which revealed this whole process, through the Turkish public in general, sheds light on the historical dimension of the subject as well as on sociology, politics and economics. aims to contribute.
