Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the formation called Turkish Clarinet School, which was formed by clarinetists with similar views and characteristics in the field of clarinet in Turkey, was examined together with its representatives and works. Although there have been some previous studies on Turkish clarinet players, as it can be seen in the sources found, it has not been studied as an instrument school and there is no information about many important clarinetists in these studies. In this study, the development of the clarinet in the world and in Turkey, its systems, clarinetists and the institutions and people who influenced them were explained, and the unique features of other national clarinet schools and the Turkish Clarinet School were explained and compared. In addition, the lives, works and works of the musicians who are representatives of the clarinet school took place. This study has been limited to the deceased clarinetists who performed western classical music that could be found in the sources. Although it is known that there may be clarinetists who can take part in the Turkish Clarinet School in many cities in Turkey and who contributed to the development of the clarinet in the country, the thesis includes the developments in the cities of Istanbul and Ankara in the light of the information available in the sources. In the second part of the study, named findings and comment, after the introduction, there are short technical and historical information and the findings of the main clarinet systems used today in order to provide information about the clarinet instrument. Afterwards, there is information about the concept of instrument school or school, the clarinet playing characteristics of national instrument schools, their studies and important representatives. Under the next title, there are studies on western classical music that influenced the Turkish Clarinet School in Turkey in the Pre-Republican and Republican Periods, and information about the institutions and people with whom the school representatives are directly related and its playing and training features until today. The subject of the formation and development of the Turkish Clarinet School has been examined together with the representatives' lives and examples of clarinet writing in their works. The contributions of the representatives of the Turkish Clarinet School operating in different branches of art in Turkey are also included in this section. In the conclusion part, the characteristics of the Turkish Clarinet School as an instrument school, its comparison with the clarinet schools of other countries, the contributions of the school representative musicians to the clarinet and art in Turkey are discussed in the light of the findings and comments, and a result is tried to be reached.
