Examining of the ableist attitude to woman on the Turkish media

This study suggests that the presentation of female identity in the Turkish media takes place through the "incomplete" perception of the male dominated approach; a psychoanalytic theory based investigation has been conducted. The female subject, which is positioned as "incomplete" and therefore "other" as a rejection of "complete" in the face of male power in the social dimension, has been examined together with the root causes of this positioning. The mentioned causes have been explored in the psychoanalytic context in conjunction with the phenomenon of unconscious and "ableism", an ideology that is " completeness" advocacy in the social science literature. The study aimed to differentiate among innumerable studies on women by presenting the underlying causes of the otherizing alternative to women with a metaphorical meaning through the conflict of "completeness" and "incompleteness". In addition, in the study, in the context of psychoanalytic reading, which will be provided by the description of the Ableist concept, a different and comprehensive reading will be done on the definition of woman as a missing entity in Turkish Media. Advertisements which have an important influence on the society will be examined with semiotic method and it will be tried to be observed that the woman who is acted as the "incomplete" is dependent on the male aspect or male view as a complement. Moreover, the question of the relationship between advertising and the reproduction of this perception is also one of the aims of the study.
