Abstract (EN)

Propolis is a dark colored, resinous, natural product collected by honey bees from plant sources. The biological activity of propolis includes structures such as polyphenols and flavonoids. Flavonoids also show antioxidant activity and have radical scavenging abilities. Boron is a trace element that dates back to ancient times. The unused portion of boron, which is a water-soluble compound, is excreted in the urine. The antioxidant activity of boron has been attributed to its role in biochemically important processes such as the scavenging mechanism of reactive oxygen species, mineral metabolism and flavonoid synthesis metabolism. In this study; The boric acid extract of Turkish propolis was prepared, the total polyphenol and flavonoid content, iron reducing power were determined, and the amount and antioxidant capacity of polyphenols and flavonoids, which are considered to be the main responsible compounds of antioxidant activity, were measured to determine how much the solubility of Turkish propolis was affected by boric acid. In order to understand whether the solubility of propolis depends on the amount of boric acid, two different concentrations of solution were studied. As a result of the studies, it was concluded that boric acid does not have an antioxidant capacity on its own, and the solubility of propolis increases with the amount of boric acid.
