Abstract (EN)
Desire is one of the concepts that are emphasized in many fields from philosophy to psychology, from art to literature. Although philosophy and psychology have been closely interested in the concept of desire for years, the views put forward have not been comprehensively discussed in terms of literature. Psychology, which emerged to understand the spiritual world of the individual, and more specifically, psychoanalysis argues that people have unconscious desires. While psychoanalysis tries to understand the desires of the individual, literature tries to explain it. In this study, the emergence of desire, which is the common area of philosophy, psychoanalysis and literature, and its place in the construction of the subject have been tried to be determined based on Turkish novels. The aim of this study is to evaluate the desire from different perspectives based on the examples selected from the Turkish novels. For this purpose, the daily, philosophical and psychoanalytical meanings of desire are mentioned, and then the appearance of desire in Turkish novels is approached from certain angles. The novels of Halide Edip Adıvar, Yusuf Atılgan, Erhan Bener, Tezer Özlü and Murathan Mungan were used in the study. Thus, the expression of desire in various forms in Turkish novels written from the National Literature Period until 2002 has been analyzed. In the novels discussed, the effects of desire on social life have been emphasized by determining the appearances of desire. In this study, while explaining the concepts related to the emergence of desire, the harmony of the individual with himself and the society is stressed because the function of desire is great in the constitution of the subject. The subject, which is a thinking being with the changing world, has also left its place to the subject in the position of desire. At this point, the subject mentioned will not be the subject of knowledge, but the subject of the unconscious. Keywords: Desire, Turkish Novel, Psychoanalysis, Philosophy, Literature.
