Propaganda in Turkish cinema: An example of Hükümet Kadın 1 and Hükümet Kadın 2

Propaganda proceeded in parallel with the development of mankind and continued to exist in different forms in many areas with the development of technology. In particular, the proliferation of mass media has made it easier to transmit propaganda to the broad masses. Cinema has been used to this day as an important propaganda tool in these mass media. Motion pictures play an active role in the process of directing and persuading the masses. In this study, it is aimed to examine how propaganda is presented through motion pictures and the ways in which the concept of propaganda is used in cinema, which is a mass media. In this study, after examining Turkish cinema in the context of propaganda and propaganda, the films "Hükümet Kadın 1" and "Hükümet Kadın 2" were analyzed according to the propaganda rules of Jean-Marie Domenach. In the theoretical part of the study, the concept of propaganda and the historical process and characteristics of propaganda, techniques, types, rules, tools and the historical periods of Turkish cinema in the context of propaganda are discussed. As a result of the study, a relationship was established between the study of characters and dialogues in the films and Domenach's propaganda rules, and as a result, it was determined that the messages given in accordance with these rules in the films were clearly and decisively processed in a way that the target audience would understand.
