Abstract (EN)

"Welfare Party Experience in Turkish Politics: Tradition, Ideology and Politics" addresses the political thought and power experience of the Welfare Party, which was included in the struggle for power with the reestablishment of the multi-party life after 12 September and closed by the Constitutional Court in 1998. After discussing the theoretical concepts of modern politics and the critical approaches to contemporary political development, the role of the Refah Party in tradition as a representative of the Milli Görüş Movement was questioned; it has been tested through an in-context discussion of how it mediates with existing political experiences before and after it. Secondly, the ideological analysis of the Welfare Party is examined based on the political actors and the political theory of state, democracy, economy, secularism and human rights. The view of the Refah Party towards Turkish modernization, Islamic discourse and understanding of religion have also been discussed. It has been assessed the effect of the Fair Order developed by Welfare Party and the structural crisis of Turkish politics on the success of central government of Welfare Party. The political reflex of the current regime during the coalition with the True Path Party was addressed through the February 28th military intervention. The Milli Görüş Movement and the Refah Party have been in the opinion of an alternative politics with the thoughts and practices they have put forth beyond the current divisions of power in the Turkish political life. It was questioned about the Turkish political life that the Milli Görüş Movement produced an alternative policy. So, the contribution of the Refah Party to the Milli Görüş Movement and modern Turkish politics has been tried to be solved.
