Abstract (EN)
Born in Adana in 1911, İsmail Kemal Satır completed his primary and secondary education in Adana and graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine. During his compulsory duty, Kemal Satır prepared himself for political life by serving as the President of the Red Crescent. Satır, who entered the parliament as a member of parliament from Adana in the 1943 elections, served as a member of parliament from Adana and Elazığ for 30 years. However, Kemal Satır wasn't a politician who was satisfied with just being a member of parliament. Satır served as Minister of Transport between 1949-1950, and as Minister of State and Deputy Prime Minister between 1963- 1965 and 1973-1974. Also Satır; along with CHP Deputy General Secretaries, he also served as CHP General Secretary, CP Chairman and CGP Council Chairman. During these duties, Kemal Satır tried to shape Turkish politics with the speeches he made both in parliamentary speeches and in-party activities.
